A 42-acre redevelopment that will consist of 290,000 SF of retail space, 220 luxury waterfront apartments, and a 5-acre linear park. This mixed-use project will be the perfect mix of shops, restaurants, and residences overlooking Broad Creek on Hilton Head Island. The existing mall located onsite will be redeveloped into a unique upscale walking village, with Kroger and Belk serving as anchor tenants. Kroger and Belk will each occupy 100,000 SF. The additional 90,000 SF will consist of additional retail and restaurant space. A joint venture between Blanchard & Calhoun Commercial and Kroger Real Estate, Shelter Cove Towne Centre will be a vibrant shopping destination providing both residents and the 2.5 million visitors that vacation in the area yearly with a unique outdoor shopping experience in an open, park-like atmosphere.
The town of Hilton Head plans to contribute a 5-acre linear park to the development. Walking and biking trails will wind throughout and connect with the existing trail system that extends across the 12 mile radius of the island. Set in an ideal location overlooking the Broad River, the park will also serve as the primary location for live events throughout the year, such as festivals, fireworks shows, and concerts. 220 luxury waterfront apartments will surround the park.
Shelter Cove Towne Centre is ideally located across from Palmetto Dunes on Hilton Head Island. Due to its central location on the island, this 42-acre site has been designated as the Central Commercial District by the town of Hilton Head. Construction on Shelter Cove Towne Centre is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012, with phase I of the development scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2013.
